CES 2016 was an incredible experience, as it exceeded all expectations. The new tech and gadgets shown are really going to change the world and our everyday lives. With the aim to make our lives easier, CES innovations have shown us that our dreams of smart cars, personal aircrafts, and fabulous fitness wearables can really come true. The future is definitely nearer than we thought. As there were many innovations that are going to hit the market soon, we chose the most notable ones to mention under the following five categories.
1. Stylish wearables – Fashion has finally sided with technology
Wearables are popular with fitness enthusiasts, as they make it easier to track progress and provide various possibilities. Fitbit’s smart fitness watch “Blaze” drew everyone’s attention. It possesses a color touchscreen, PurePulse Heart Rate, and is water resistant. Compatible with both Android and iOS, it is capable of selecting these activities automatically. However, if you are looking for an elegant smartwatch, then you might consider Huawei’s watch for ladies. There are two models, the “Jewel” and “Elegant.” On these lovely watches you can see Swarovski crystals and you can choose between two strap colors – sapphire blue and pearl white. Aside from the fabulous design, the watches offer features such as heart rate monitoring and motion sensors for fitness tracking. There were many watches presented at CES 2016, including the “Martian Kindred Vip,” Samsung “Gear S2 Classic,” Fossil “Q54 Pilot,” and many others which combined up-to-date fashion and fitness-related tech. There were also clothes with built-in trackers and sensors. Whether the market is overcrowded with smartwatches or the technology strives to eliminate wearing a separate fitness sensor, one thing is certain – fashion is finally connected to technology. Hexoskin, Sensoria, and Samsung presented shirts, leggings, and socks that can measure your daily activity. Also, collections made sure that women can measure their heart rate by wearing a sports bra. Some of the prices are still a mystery, as well as when you will be able to purchase them, but it is certain that OMsignal smart bra will be on the market this spring.
2. Virtual reality has blown gamers away, but augmented reality impressed CEOs and is making changes in industrial business
Probably the most popular category of this year’s CES, virtual reality has become the most-discussed new tech. We have all been expecting to see Oculus Rift at CES and take a look at this “miracle,” which seems to also be Facebook’s favorite. When it released its price of $599, people were shocked – we all expected it to be a bit cheaper. Aside from being able to play Minecraft using the Oculus Rift, there are many other planned possibilities – and it isn’t only about gaming. Aside from the Oculus Rift, there were many other virtual reality headsets presented, such as the “Vive Pre” by HTC, and Sony’s “PlayStation VR.” PS lovers can’t wait for this one to come out, and let’s just hope that it is at least a bit more affordable. While these gaming headsets were showing the best experience the users could have, many people found the Daqri Smart Helmet more remarkable. This helmet is for industrial businesses, from construction to manual manufacturing. Simply put, this helmet connects the worker with his or her environment and by creating augmented reality provides them with necessary information. It is a fascinating product that can take industrial business to the next level, as it boosts the worker’s performance.
3. We are definitely close to having personal aircrafts that don’t require much skill to use
Companies have made great improvements to drones, and the maker of military and security technology, AEE, has created the F900 drone, which can fly up to 40 minutes and carry a 10 kg load. On the other hand, in the world of consumer drones, what impressed everybody at CES was the “X-Star Premium” made by Autel Robotics. It provides HD live view, GPS, 64GB microSD card, and GLONASS. Not everyone was pleased to hear that the price of this incredible model is $999, but it definitely sounds better than the price of the DJI “Inspire 1 Pro Black Edition,” which costs a whopping $4,800. Being a real pro drone lover requires a lot of money, so it might be best to consider cheaper models for now and get used to flying them before committing to one of these high-end models. Other drones presented included the DJI “Phantom 3 4K,” Ehang “Ghost 2.0,” “Hexo+,” “ONAGOfly,” “Parrot Disco,” and many others. If you’ve ever wished to ride in a compact personal aircraft, then you should take a look at the Ehang 184 AAV, an aircraft that can carry a passenger 20 miles. Its speed is 60 miles per hour, and the best thing is that it pilots itself. You have certainly dreamed of being able to fly to work while you were stuck in a traffic jam. This is the closest we have come to our dreams of a flying car so far. All you need to do to get the Ehang 184 AAV going is tap the destination on a tablet interface and it will take you there.
4. Home cutting-edge tech improvements are making our lives easier and better
Let’s start with our cozy living rooms. Your TV will look old fashioned if you take a look at these incredible TVs introduced at CES. Sony introduced the “XD93,” available in 55 and 65 inches. With access to 4K HDR movie content, UltraViolet locker, and Slim Backlight Drive, this TV is everything we could want. Next to Sony, LG presented the “LG Signature G6” and “E6 OLED TV.” Samsung announced a series of TVs with SUHD technology. After the kitchen, it’s time for the bedroom and a smart bed. The mattress of the Sleep Number’s It Bed tracks your sleeping habits and has adjustable firmness. There were definitely many other home tech improvements, from security cameras to intelligent vents with filters.
5. Car manufactures are keeping up with new tech
If you aren’t into flying and aircrafts, and you are more of a car lover, then CES 2016 must have been your favorite CES of all, as it presented all the latest car models and related tech. The affordable 2017 Chevrolet “Bolt EV” is a really spacious electric car and has a lot of great tech for the price of $30,000. This car will be the number one EV (Electric Vehicle) benchmark, until we see Tesla’s new model. Looking a bit like the Batmobile, the Faraday “Future FFZERO1” is more of a futuristic racer. If you are looking for a practical car, then opt for Chevrolet’s, and let’s leave this model to the extremists. While Chevrolet’s car is one of the most notable due to its incredible features, FFZERO1’s was on all of the “great electric cars” lists because of both features and looks, and Mercedes has surprised everyone with an announcement of a self-driving Mercedes E-class. CES 2016 was definitely one of the best, and we simply cannot stop talking about it. New tech and gadgets are improving our lives constantly, whether it be in terms of health, business, tech experience, or lifestyle in general.
